March 2, 2018. Master of Government Affairs and Administration UMY with the House of Representatives held FGD on Performance Problems of the Village Consultative Board in Realizing Village Democratization. The FGD took place at MIP student hall, Postgraduate Building 2nd floor. In this event, the House of Representatives sent 5 (five) delegates as participants, while Dr. Suswanta, M.Si and Dr. Suranto, M.Pol represented MIP/MGAA as moderator and speaker in this FGD. Furthermore, this FGD aimed to examine deep efforts to improve village democratization. Moreover, in village democratization, the Village Consultative Board (BPD) has a role in supporting the village democratization process, but has not been optimized due to several problems.
According to Dr. Suranto there have been many problems faced by BPD, such as weaknesses in organization, staff support, rights for BPD members are unclear, and lack of personal capacity. From all of these, the root of the problems is there no ancillary regulation on BPD at the local level.
