Expenditures burden that must be borne by the community will increase, along with the hammer of the draft scheme to increase BPJS contributions by the Parliament on Monday (2/9). The details of the increase in fees, which are awaiting the Presidential Regulation which will be implemented in early 2020, have averaged 100% of the previous tariff. The amount of the Class 1 contribution goes from Rp. 80000 to Rp. 16,000 per month. While Class 2 soared from Rp. 51,000 to Rp. 11,000 per month.
This figure is greater than the proposal of the National Social Security Board (DJSN), which proposes class 1 contributions to be Rp 1,20000 and Class II to Rp 75,000. The question that arises then is why should the Government increase so drastically?
Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani said that BPJS until the fifth year since it was implemented had experienced a financial deficit of Rp 32.8 trillion. In 2014 it experienced a deficit of Rp 3.3 trillion, which increased to 5.7 trillion in 2015, and Rp 9.75 trillion in 2016 and reached Rp 10.98 trillion to patch Rp13.56 trillion in 2019.
