Yogyakarta Muhammadiyah University (UMY) once again held Annual Work Meeting (RKT) 2019-2020 with the theme “Strengthening Quality Academic Impacts to Strengthen International Reputation”, on Tuesday (20/08) in the Meeting Room of AR Fachruddin B Building, UMY Integrated Campus. UMY Rector Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P. delivered in his speech about the measured impact related to the accreditation instruments of tertiary institutions and study programs. “So easily we want what kind of impact, if we want a booming impact we must utilize the budget that has been available to make a good program. Not even busy making a busy event for a moment then did not cause any positive impact to improve the quality of UMY, “he explained.

Gunawan also added that UMY’s ranking increased at the end of this school year, namely 35 top PTN and PTS, 1 Top PTM, and 3 Top PTS under 50. “This is an extraordinary achievement for all of us. This was achieved not because of an increase in the number of new students, but because of the certification both nationally and internationally that UMY recently achieved significantly. We are still inferior to our neighboring campuses which have many international certifications, this year we are targeting 4 more added.

On the same occasion UMY Vice Chancellor for Cooperation and International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Achmad Nurmandi, M.Sc revealed that UMY’s shortcomings were in the field of research. “For this reason, I will intensify in the next academic year that every lecturer must publish at least one journal every year. It is hoped that the construction of a new building as a research center will help facilitate the research of lecturers, “Nurmandi explained.

In order to achieve these targets going forward, in this new school year 2019/2020 UMY will focus on the internationalization sector. “Like increasing international special study programs, bringing in lecturers from abroad, increasing cooperation with educational institutions from various foreign countries and providing S3 scholarships for lecturers to improve the quality of teaching staff,” concluded Nurmandi again.
